If there’s one thing the Bay Area has no shortage of, it’s ridiculously beautiful places to get married. Redwoods, vineyards, historic estates, San Francisco views, gardens that feel tucked away from everything – you really can find a venue for just about every kind of celebration here.
After photographing weddings throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California for more than a decade, I’ve gotten to experience some pretty special places. And because the venue you choose shapes so much more than how your wedding looks – it affects your timeline, your guest experience, your photos, and ultimately how the day feels – I wanted to put together some of my favorites.
You’ll find venues I’ve photographed firsthand, places already on my calendar, and a few that are very much on my photographer wishlist.
So if you’re looking for wedding venues in the Bay Area, here are 15 beautiful places worth exploring.
1. Hacienda de las Flores | Moraga, California

Tucked into Moraga, Hacienda de las Flores is one of my favorite East Bay hidden gems. The Spanish-style estate, central fountain, gardens, and greenery give the property so much character without feeling like you need to add a ton to it.
One of the things I love about photographing venues like Hacienda is that there’s so much variety without pulling you away from your wedding for a huge chunk of time. We can sneak away for portraits and get you right back to your people.
Perfect for: romantic garden weddings, Spanish-inspired architecture, and couples looking for an East Bay wedding venue that feels tucked away.

2. Redwood Canyon | Castro Valley, California

If you love the woodsy Northern California feeling but still want something easily accessible in the Bay Area, Redwood Canyon is such a good option.
The combination of mature trees, greenery, and open views gives you plenty of variety for photographs while still keeping everything conveniently in one place.
Perfect for: nature-loving couples, garden ceremonies, larger celebrations, and an easy East Bay location.

3. Golden Gate Club | San Francisco, California

There are San Francisco weddings, and then there are weddings where San Francisco becomes part of the entire experience.
Located in the Presidio, Golden Gate Club gives you views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay while still being surrounded by the greenery of the Presidio. You also have access to some incredible portrait locations nearby without turning your wedding into an elaborate photoshoot around the city.
If you want your wedding gallery to immediately feel like San Francisco, this is one I’d absolutely consider.
Perfect for: classic San Francisco weddings, larger celebrations, incredible views, and couples who want city + nature.

4. Palm Event Center in the Vineyard | Pleasanton, California

Palm Event Center gives you that wine country feeling without requiring all of your guests to head to Napa or Sonoma.
It’s especially great for couples who want vineyards and an elevated celebration while keeping their wedding closer to the East Bay and Tri-Valley.
Perfect for: vineyard weddings, elegant celebrations, larger guest lists, and couples who want wine country vibes closer to home.

5. Nella Terra Cellars | Sunol, California

Nella Terra is tucked into the rolling hills of Sunol and somehow feels much farther away from the Bay Area bustle than it actually is.
With vineyards, gardens, and plenty of space to explore, it’s also the kind of venue where we don’t have to spend your photography timeline transporting everyone from place to place. Less logistics, more time actually experiencing your wedding.
Perfect for: outdoor celebrations, vineyard weddings, garden ceremonies, and couples who want a relaxed wine country feeling in the East Bay.

6. Olympia’s Valley Estate | Petaluma, California

Olympia’s Valley Estate is the kind of venue that feels like its own little world, with a historic estate, open landscape, and beautiful Sonoma County surroundings.
I especially love venues where guests have room to settle in and experience the property rather than being confined to one space all evening. It lends itself beautifully to celebrations that feel elevated without becoming overly formal.
Perfect for: romantic estate weddings, outdoor celebrations, historic details, and couples who want something refined but relaxed.

7. V. Sattui Winery | St. Helena, California
If you’re picturing an iconic Napa Valley wedding, V. Sattui deserves a spot on your list.
The stone architecture, vineyards, and unmistakable wine country setting make it especially beautiful for couples who want the location itself to become part of the experience.
One tip I give couples planning vineyard weddings: check sunset before finalizing your reception timeline. Even ten or fifteen minutes together in that last stretch of beautiful light can give us some incredible portraits – and give the two of you a rare quiet moment together in the middle of the celebration.
Perfect for: Napa Valley weddings, wine and food lovers, romantic architecture, and vineyard portraits.
8. Vine Hill House | Sebastopol, California

Surrounded by vineyards and Sonoma County scenery, Vine Hill House has the intimate feeling of a private estate while still giving you those quintessential wine country views.
It’s especially lovely for couples who want their wedding to feel less like a production and more like an incredible dinner party surrounded by their favorite people.
Perfect for: Sonoma weddings, vineyard views, outdoor celebrations, and intimate wine country gatherings.

9. Log Cabin at the Presidio | San Francisco, California

The Log Cabin gives you a completely different Presidio experience from Golden Gate Club.
It has historic character, a more relaxed personality, and easy access to the beautiful landscapes of the Presidio. It’s such a good choice if you want to get married in San Francisco without a traditional ballroom feeling.
Perfect for: relaxed San Francisco weddings, historic character, outdoor celebrations, and couples who love a slightly more rustic setting.

10. Saratoga Springs | Saratoga, California

Tucked into the Santa Cruz Mountains, Saratoga Springs offers something completely different from the vineyards and city venues on this list: a wedding surrounded by towering redwoods.
There’s something incredibly special about gathering everyone you love beneath the trees. Redwoods also create such a sense of scale in photographs – the environment can feel enormous while the moments happening within it still feel wonderfully intimate.
Perfect for: redwood weddings, outdoor celebrations, nature-loving couples, and anyone who wants their setting to feel unmistakably Northern California.

A Few More Bay Area Wedding Venues I Love
I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings at some pretty incredible places over the years, and there are always venues I’d love to return to – along with a few still on my photographer wishlist.
If you’re planning a wedding at one of these, please say hi – I already have ideas ;)!
11. Nestldown | Los Gatos, California
Nestldown is one of those venues I was lucky enough to photograph years ago, and I’m especially excited to be heading back for a Hey Honey wedding next summer.
Set among the redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains, it’s the kind of property where the environment becomes part of the story rather than simply serving as a backdrop.
Perfect for: redwood weddings, garden celebrations, whimsical details, and couples who want their guests to feel completely transported.
12. Carneros Resort and Spa | Napa, California
I’ve photographed a wedding at Carneros Resort before, and it’s one I’d absolutely love to return to with Hey Honey!
I especially love the idea of having your people settle into one place together for a wine country wedding weekend. Less running around and fewer logistics means more lingering over meals, spending time together, and all those in-between moments I love photographing.
Perfect for: elevated Napa weddings, destination-style weekends, intimate celebrations, and couples who really care about the guest experience.

13. Auberge du Soleil | Rutherford, California
Auberge du Soleil is very much on my Napa Valley photography wishlist.
For couples dreaming of something intimate and elevated where incredible food, scenery, and time with their closest people are at the center of the experience, this is the kind of wedding I would love to photograph.
Perfect for: intimate luxury weddings, destination celebrations, food-and-wine-loving couples, and a refined Napa Valley experience.
14. Viansa Sonoma | Sonoma, California
I’ve photographed a wedding at Viansa before, and it’s absolutely another venue I’d love to return to with Hey Honey.
If the landscape is one of the reasons you’re choosing Sonoma in the first place, Viansa really lets wine country become part of the visual story of your wedding. The vineyards and surrounding scenery give us plenty to work with for portraits, especially as the light starts getting softer later in the day.
And yes, I will always advocate for sneaking outside around sunset if the light is doing something magical.
Perfect for: vineyard weddings, outdoor ceremonies, sunset portraits, and a classic Sonoma wine country experience.
15. Annadel Estate Winery | Santa Rosa, California
Annadel is the kind of venue that immediately catches my photographer eye: wine country scenery paired with historic architecture and tons of texture and character.
I love spaces that already have a strong sense of place because they allow the wedding to feel distinctive without needing to transform the venue with a huge amount of decor.
Perfect for: romantic estate weddings, garden celebrations, historic architecture, outdoor dinners, and Sonoma County wine country.

How to Choose the Right Bay Area Wedding Venue
As a photographer, my biggest piece of advice is this: don’t choose a venue based solely on how it photographs.
Beautiful light and scenery are wonderful, obviously. I will never complain about either. But first, think about how you actually want to experience your wedding. Do you picture a long dinner outside under string lights? A huge dance floor packed with everyone you know? A weekend in wine country where your families have time to really be together? A ceremony beneath the redwoods?
Think about your people, too. Will grandparents or family members have mobility considerations? Will guests need to travel between multiple locations? Are you okay spending part of your wedding day in transportation – or would you rather have everything happen in one place? Those things matter.
I also look at venues through the lens of your photography timeline. If getting ready, the ceremony, cocktail hour, portraits, and reception can all happen relatively close together, that’s usually more time you get to spend actually at your wedding instead of moving from place to place. The best Bay Area wedding venue isn’t necessarily the fanciest one or even the one with the prettiest Instagram feed. It’s the place that gives you the environment to have the experience you actually want.
And then, yes – we’ll figure out where the pretty light is ;).
Planning a Bay Area Wedding?
Hey Honey Photography photographs weddings throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, East Bay, Napa, Sonoma, and Northern California with an approach that blends documentary storytelling with thoughtful direction.
My goal isn’t to turn your wedding into one long photoshoot. I’ll step in when you need guidance, help you create a photography timeline that leaves room to actually experience the day, organize family portraits so everyone can get back to celebrating, and pay attention to all the things happening around you while you’re busy getting married. Because while I absolutely want you to have beautiful photographs of how everything looked, I’m even more interested in preserving what it felt like to be there.
Your parents’ faces during your vows. Your best friend’s toast. Your grandmother on the dance floor. Your people laughing together at dinner. The hug happening behind you that you didn’t even know about. Those are the photographs that eventually become part of your family’s history.
If you’re planning a wedding at one of these Bay Area wedding venues – or somewhere completely different – I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up!
