Everything you need to know before your session – from what to wear to how to show up with ease

The holidays are already full – of to-dos, travel, and trying to make everything just right. But your photo session shouldn’t be one more thing to stress about.

Whether you’re coming solo for a little self-love session, bringing your partner for cozy holiday photos, or showing up as a family ready to laugh and snuggle, these minis are designed to be easy, fun, and full of heart.

Here’s everything you need to know to feel confident, prepared, and ready to shine in front of the camera.

What to Wear: Keep It Comfortable + Confident

Your photos should look and feel like you — not like someone else’s Pinterest board. These sessions are about connection and personality, so wear something that helps you feel comfortable, confident, and festive in your own way.

A few tips to guide you:

  • Dress for the season, not a trend. Whether that’s cozy knits, a sparkly dress, or your favorite jeans and boots — go for what feels like you.

  • Add pops of color or pattern! Jewel tones, deep reds, greens, golds, or even playful plaids photograph beautifully during holiday minis.

  • Coordinate thoughtfully. Choose colors that complement one another rather than matching exactly.

  • Keep it comfortable. You’ll be moving, snuggling, and laughing — comfort makes all the difference.

  • Bring layers. Jackets, scarves, or accessories can add texture and variety without requiring a full outfit change.

The Week Before: Plan Ahead for a Smooth Day

A little preparation goes a long way — especially during the holidays. Here’s how to make the week before your mini feel calm and easy:

  • Try everything on early. Make sure outfits fit comfortably and move well.

  • Book any haircuts or nail touch-ups a few days before your session.

  • Pack the essentials early: snacks, wipes, tissues, a hairbrush, or backup outfit if you have littles.

  • Get a good night’s sleep. Well-rested faces (and moods!) make a big difference.

  • Arrive 5–10 minutes early. Minis run on a tight schedule, so this gives us a buffer to start right on time.

These small things help everyone — from toddlers to grown-ups — show up relaxed and ready to enjoy themselves.

During Your Session: Let It Be Fun

Once you arrive, your only job is to be present! I’ll gently guide you through poses and prompts that feel natural — helping you relax, laugh, and just enjoy the moment.

If you’re bringing kids:

  • Don’t stress if they’re wiggly or silly — that’s real life, and it photographs beautifully.

  • Focus on connection, not perfection. Genuine giggles and snuggles always win.

  • Play, move, and let me capture your family’s rhythm just as it is.

For couples:

  • Bring your favorite inside jokes and go-to cuddle pose.

  • The goal is connection — not perfection. A few deep breaths and a little playfulness go a long way.

For solo sessions:

  • Think of this as a celebration of you — who you are right now.

  • Bring your confidence, your story, and maybe a prop that feels cozy or personal (like a mug, jacket, or favorite book).
